Oh, I love these ships! Was she ever turned out in black/white/ochre?

With her asymmetric, widely spaced funnels and extreme tumblehome, Imperieuse was never going to be a handsome ship. When her brig-rig was replaced with a single mast amidships, her appearance took a turn for the worse. Nevertheless she was a powerful ship for her time, being one of the Royal Navy's...

When she was built in 1875, HMS Iris was classified as a despatch vessel because of her high turn of speed for the day. I have drawn her as refitted in 1888 when she was rated as a second-class cruiser. Despite the loss of her jib-boom, I think she retains her sleek good looks. http://i1378.photobuc...

Well, all the critiques seem to be in so thanks a lot for your input. I have made most of the changes suggested and present a redux of Galatea rather than a revision of the original. The link to her sister, Australia was especially useful and enabled me to re-work the 6-inch guns. I am holding back ...

Hello again, everybody and thanks for your critiques. I was well chuffed that Galatea has been moved into the Real Designs board. Special thanks to Rowdy36 for his link to the Project Sail board where I was able to look at how people dealt with masts and I have made some sort of analysis of the tech...

Yahoo! Thanks, Rowdy36; that did the trick. I wondered about the double black lines when I drew them. I know they are frowned upon in Shipbucket style so I was being wilful by including them. They seem to be unavoidable where tapered masts are concerned but I will trawl through other people's drawin...

Well, that didn't work too well, did it? You shouldn't have to click on a link to see the image. What is it that everybody else is doing and I am not?

Well, here goes. I have opened a Photobucket account and this is my first attempt at an upload to the forum. I don't think that any drawing accreditations are required here but I would give a mention to Darth Panda because I used his colour renderings. Thanks also to those who answered my introducto...

Hi folks, Just to let you know that I have arrived. I have been lurking on this site for two or three years now, having plundered the archives for drawings that are so well suited for naval wargaming and I think it is time that I put something back! My signature dish is going to be RN cruisers of th...
