Hi there In my opinion, the so-called “pocket-battleships” ( Panzerschiffe ) of the Deutschland-class were very good-looking. Yet, as hardly needs to be pointed out, while they were arguably a major political success, militarily they were less so: essentially ‘(not so) super’ heavy cruisers that wer...

Hi there Is anyone else finding that the older drawings are not showing up? Cheers, Amartus Yeah, most of them were hosted on Majhost, a site that has since shut down. I keep telling myself that I'll get around to reuploading them. Hi Thiel Makes sense. Is there anywhere else that I can check your ...

Hi Krakatoa Really awesome ship. Name does not work however - Bavaria is the english version of the german Bayern, and Battlecruisers were generally given the names of significant people (i.e. Moltke, or indeed Lützow) rather than states / prussian provinces within the German Empire. I would suggest...

Hi guys Thank you both for your comments. I have changed the thread title as I incorrectly described it originally: my kitbash is Helgoland-Class turrets on the 1928 German BC Design as rendered by Syzmo. AFAIK, this design was always posited as having 305mm guns, not a 350mm guns, so the swapsie is...

Hello everybody I was going to call this a first attempt at a Shipbucket drawing but it isn't really: it is a kitbash, pure and simple, posted with Syzmo's permission. Very early days yet, but as this marks the current limit of my knowledge re warship construction, I thought that it was a good place...

Thanks guys for the replies - it is fascinating to me what can and can't work (from a practical perspective) when you get down to the nitty gritty. The better use of the hulls would be hard to justify even with the hindsight advantage, but if I was putting out that kind of money and scarce human eng...

Thanks for the replies. I don't think that Furashita was advancing the idea of this upgraded pre-dreadnaught Deutschland being a raider - he also comments on the poor sea-keeping when giving the alternate history of these ships (see the link in my initial post) - but rather what might have been done...

Hi there I was wondering if anyone could comment on the viability of this upgraded Deutschland Class semi-dreadnaught: http://www.combinedfleet.com/furashita/schlie_f.htm Restricted by treaty to 10,000 tons and 11" guns for new naval builds, the Weimar Navy sought to modernize its old fleet. A new, ...
