I know this is an 8 year old thread, but I was looking at your Montana Scheme 8 today and remembered something that I wasn't aware of back in 2014: it's supposed to have 6 shafts rather than 4. Transmitting 80,000 horsepower to each shaft wasn't possible with the technology of the 1940s.

Just wondering, do you have any plans to update the as-built Long Beach and her 1980s refit to match AEGIS Beach's quality?

It has also been said that it would have been a more "reasonable" mount of only 4 guns, which can be seen here: https://i.imgur.com/ighQKEp.jpg Honestly I think the 4 gun version might actually be even less reasonable than the 5 gun, simply because the guns are directly on top of each other and thu...

Wow. How did they manage such a long wire?
torpedo wire is 10 to 30 km long, and that is under water, where you have to fight the water pressure and resistance. In air, you don't have that
Well that's embarrassing, I completely forgot about how submarine torpedoes are wire-guided.

Hi Magus I didn't make that one up. It was a real-life German project cancelled in 2002 as a cost-cutting measure. It was supposed to have a range of 60 kilometers, equaling slightly over 32 nm. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polyphem_(missile) Greetings GD Wow. How did they manage such a long wire?

She was fitted for, but not with four additional 16-cell lightweight VLS, to be mounted forward abreast of the main ASTER launcher. This VLS could hold either VL Mica close defence SAMs (Range 12 nm, capable of engaging supersonic sea-skimmers like Oniks/BrahMos) or wire-guided Polyphem lightweight...

Kaiser Maximilian, being the only Austrian capital ship which would make an useful addition to the Austrian and Italian fleets, was vigorously claimed by Great Britain as a prize when the war ended, and ungloriously scrapped in Greece in 1920. I have to wonder if in a situation like this, the Greek...

That's the same gun, but a much later turret design from 1938.

I can't choose which one to go for in the Au. It's like choosing who is the favourite child, they are both my babies. For whatever it's worth I'd go with the enlarged 12x12" version. The k.u.k. Kriegsmarine went with triple turrets specifically to counter Dante Alighieri and took pride in Viribus U...
