ISTR reading something that that was mostly the 40mm and above guns, whereas the 20mms didn't do all that much. But maybe we should split this out into a separate discussion :)

Ace, I know that; however, would even a United European Navy really need a precise equivalent of the hugely expensive Burkes? I know, as a former EU-taxpayer, I'd not be willing to pay up for such needless extravagance. I wanted to emphasize the more economic designs that have prevailed in Europe, ...

ace: then why is nobody buying it? I see 57mm selling, Strales selling, Millenium gun selling and Phalanx (increasingly less outside the US). Goalkeeper? Not so'd you notice. And again with the lack of stealth

nice one on that. aimed wall of lead is better of course. as for aiming: "With a rate of fire of up to 120 rounds per minute, the 76/62 can put a thick wall of iron and fire in the face of any threat aiming for the warship, but it is with the DAVIDE model (STRALES for the export market) that the CIW...

actually the "wall of lead" has never worked, Didn't in WWII, doesn't now. 57mm and 76mm can engage a fair bit further out, are more versatile and - again - are being chosen as CIWS by some rather major players. And as for Phalanx -with that exposed gun, USN sailers have told me that CIWS is an acro...

76mm Strales: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n6_Swig2J2E Goalkeeper is 90s tech. Bigger calibres are better. The USN is using the Bofors 57mm on the Zumwalts, France and Italy 76mm. The 76mm on the Kortenaers was replaced with goalkeeper for the SM-1 versions IIRC - and again that is 90s news ...

the 76mm is a much more potent CIWS than goalkeeper or similar as MN and MM have decided. Hence me going for it. As for radar, have a look at SF500 http://www.frontline-defence.com/images/13DEF4_DCNS-FREMM_Frontline.jpg SPY-1 not being European is not an option. And sorry, the EU does not have a joi...

Guys, some of you may know me. I have been active on wesworld and i am a pretty decent designer of naval neverweres. What I am not is a graphical artist. I was wondering whether there is anybody who'd be interested in working on alternate world designs with me? An example of my thinking: This assume...
