when california Realistically, in the political climate of California from the 1990s and on, California would only have a (barely tolerated) Coast Guard Consisting of a few (4-6) Medium Endurance Cutters and smaller patrol/rescue boats. Though Southern California would likely break off and either g...

Just some context, Russia loves taking a boat they no longer consider a front line asset, but still has life left in it, and use it as a testbed for future technologies. The 613RV...the large structure on the bow is pair of 65cm torpedo tubes (no reloads) used to develop the various large weapons th...

A good looking little ship. FYI she has a small pilot house forward since the USCG is not ready to allow unmanned anythings to operate in navigation channels (I work on a large UUV and this has been a problem for us for several years now). Also while the class is planned to have a sonar system insta...

Just a historical note, the Moskva's were considered somewhat a failure. With the fwd half being all weapons, magazines, electronics, etc and the aft half being essentially a hollow hanger, they tended to ride bow down which made them very wet forward in even a moderate sea.

Just to add some history from Conways... The Monitors built in this period were snuck in while Congress was not authorizing ship construction. The USN took the names of 6 Monitors from the Civil War and declared they were going to "repair" these ships for current use and got the funding passed. The ...

Tarawa's do not have bow thrusters. In fact no USN warships do.

Helo facilities. Is that a telescoping hanger? The helo looks taller than the shortest telescoping section. The ship is large enough to accommodate a full helo hanger extending aft with the launcher roof mounted. Unless the intent is to land a helo for refuel/rearm, but not have an embarked aircraft...
