I love your Emden, it looks great :) Very nice work. Might I be so bold as to offer some translation corrections for the plaque, though? I'd have to ask my mate's Japanese wife for confirmation but I'd read that katakana were more fashionable than hiragana before the Second World War, to the extent that there were people named in katakana. Maybe they'll be useful for AU designs...

Rodondo, you've inspired me to de-lurk! I like your kana, but given Novice's desire for a smaller set I found a set of 5x7 katakana on a VFD maker's website recently so I've turned their pattern into a png:
